Indonesia joined those countries that decided to declare war on bitcoin and the crypto sphere in general. The central bank of this country has banned the use of any digital currencies when paying for goods and services.

Perry Varjiyo, who is the head of the Central Bank of Indonesia, made a statement this week, local media reported.

Note that in early May 2021, the Indonesian authorities announced the introduction of a tax on income received from crypto trading. The government has promised to prepare a bill as soon as possible.

Now, the country's Central Bank has generally banned payment for goods and services using BTC and other coins. The head of the Bank of Indonesia stressed that cryptocurrency is not legal tender. To comply with the regulator's order, it plans to tighten control overall transactions.

Recall that this week the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina made a similar statement in the State Duma. She also spoke out strongly against the legalization of bitcoin, which she called a surrogate.
