Coincheck has joined cryptocurrency exchanges based in Japan, GMO Coin and BitFlyer, towards support for trading Brave’s Basic Attention Token from July 21. This means that the cryptocurrency exchange, which is also based in Japan, will soon start offering support for BAT token holders.

Coincheck’s parent organization, Monex Group Inc, announced the new development on July 13, noting that Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT) will be available for trading from July 21 on the cryptocurrency exchange’s platform. The exchange introduced Qtum (QTUM) for trading four months ago, meaning that BAT is the thirteenth token users can buy and sell on its platform.

Brave, a privacy-based browser is the owner of BAT token. While the pandemic is still ravaging, the number of people using the browser has increased to over 15 million. At the moment, people in Japan who use the browser can be rewarded with Basic Attention Token Points (BAP) for the display of advertisements on the browser. Nonetheless, Japan’s existing regulations regarding virtual currencies is preventing them from earning BAT tokens or trading their points for fiat.

According to a report released by blockchain analytics company Flipside Crypto, the most used ERC-20 token in the DeFi space between June 19 and July 2 is Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT), in spite of the rise in interest and price of Compound (COMP).

In the 2020 second quarter report released by Dapp.com, it was noted that the transaction volume generated from BAT token was $931 million, a value more than the aggregated volume of Ether (ETH) and Dai (DAI). Flipside Crypto said the rise in its volume and price had something to do with developments in Compound (COMP).

A few months ago, both GMO Coin and BitFlyer started offering support for BAT token holders. Similarly, DeFi platform DMM Bitcoin will start trading the coin on July 22.
