APENFT Names IMG Artists Chairman Barrett Wissman as New Chief Investment Advisor

NFT project APENFT names Barrett Wissman as Chief Investment Advisor

The APENFT Foundation has named Barrett Wissman as its new Chief Investment Advisor. Wissman will bring his unique experience from the arts and entertainment world to APENFT – he is also the chairman of IMG Artists, a company that’s involved in management for performing arts, social media, festivals and events. In addition, Wissman is also a principal in management company Two Pillar Management.

APENFT was formed earlier this year and has already emerged as one of the biggest investors in the NFT space. The project’s goal is to purchase valuable artworks and register them as NFTs, utilizing both the Ethereum and TRON blockchain platforms. So far, APENFT has already purchased artworks by the likes of Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, but the organization has also acquired pieces from contemporary artists such as Pak, FEWOCiOUS and Beeple. 

According to a press release shared by APENFT, Wissman will help them establish relationships in the art and entertainment industries. APENFT also says it plans to launch incubators that will support promising NFT artists. With Wissman’s experience in the event management will also assist APENFT in sponsoring and organizing exhibitions and other events. Another role that Wissman will be playing in APENFT is to expand the project’s team with new advisors and experts.

TRON founder Justin Sun, who was one of the main people behind the creation of APENFT, commented on the project’s new CIO:

“To have someone of the caliber of Barrett Wissman as an advisor is an important milestone for APENFT.”

Meanwhile, APENFT’s art director Sydney Xiong added that the project is already working on several projects with Wissman.

APENFT has its own governance token called NFT, which allows holders to create and vote on proposals to steer the future direction of the APENFT project. In July, for example, NFT holders approved a proposal to use the proceeds of the sale of “Three Self-Portraits” by Andy Warhol to buy NFT tokens and burn them. About $2.52 million worth of NFT tokens were burned as a result.
