It has been a very busy month in the nano ecosystem with the arrival of nano’s new currency symbol Ӿ and ticker, XNO among a plethora of other new additions to the ecosystem from the community in addition to a new Nano Foundation team member!

In this digest we also share our refreshed site, the Nano Hub and amazing videos showcasing the new ticker. We say hello to Kyle Sherman from Flowhub who has joined the Nano Foundation Advisory Board and we welcome new integrations, such as 2Miners, AutoCoinCars, CoinRabbit and more, culminating with our top media moments and good reads.

Welcome to the Nano Hub — we hope it will prove to be a useful tool for our ever-expanding community & ecosystem! The Nano Hub lists merchants, services, charities, exchanges, games, faucets, wallets and developer tools for nano all in an easy, centralised platform enabling the sharing of each facet separately. Just say you want to share all the ways you can earn nano, well just send this link moving forward!

Some facts about Nano Hub:

• You can search for particular services or tools using the embedded search engine
• You can search using various keywords, like “buy” or “accept”
• You can use the filter option which is customized for each category and currency pair
• Each page can be shared anywhere you want, so that an even wider community learns about nano use cases.

Refreshed website

The Nano Foundation also launched a brand-new website to better highlight nano in the real world and its applications. We wanted to showcase nano’s real world use cases in a clear and convenient format. Our focus is to make the site a perfect place to start getting into nano.

A few notable points about the new site:

• A Try nano page that serves as an entry point for newcomers to nano.
• A Sustainability page, which we’ll continue to update and highlight the eco-friendly nature of nano.
• With the new ticker released, we have a Currency Kit, to ease the transition.

• Any questions you have — please, address our FAQs, which we will update, should you not find an answer.

Kyle Sherman joins the NF Advisory Board

Kyle Sherman, founder and CEO of Flowhub — a leading point-of-sale and retail management platform for adult-use and medical cannabis dispensaries, joined the NF Advisory Board. This move is one of the first steps towards bridging the gap between cryptocurrency and cannabis, with the latter expecting its market size to reach $70.6 billion USD by 2028 and Nano Foundation plan to put nano at the forefront of this.

“I’ve been a fan of Nano for years; they’re transforming the way we think about digital money,” Kyle Sherman said. “Banking in cannabis has been a struggle since the early days of legalization. Dispensaries have limited alternatives to cash in a world where cryptocurrency has become a viable payment option for similarly regulated industries, like sports betting. It’s an obvious next step for us to consider what crypto will look like as a tool to purchase cannabis. I’m excited to begin this process through my advisory position at Nano.”

New Integrations

2miners and miner payouts in nano

The high transaction fees seen on the Ethereum network are unsustainable even for network miners with gas fees often now surpassing the transaction itself. It was this problem that the Ethereum mining pool — 2Miners, identified and set out to solve by announcing their introduction of nano payouts to their miners on October 12th.

In many mining pools, miners have to wait days, weeks or months to accumulate a minimum reward called the “no payout fee” to receive their payment without discounting the fees (the pool absorbs this amount). Now, with utilising nano’s speed and feeless network, miners are able to have daily payouts while cutting huge overheads on fees.

According to data collected by the blocks explorer NanoLooker, and consolidated by nano Community Manager from Brazil Vinicus Barbosa for Cointimes a total of 239,885 individual payment transactions were carried out in a period of 42 days (October 12 to November 22). These transactions amounted to Ӿ749,375.00 and $4,284,384.00 dollars, with an average of Ӿ18,006.50 and $110,817.50 per day respectively.

As of December 2nd, total nano payouts amount to Ӿ1,060,679.331686716. You can check the relevant stats here.

Not only is this use case brilliant for nano with a steady volume of transactions that is ever growing, this move has catapulted 2Miners growth, as you can see on the above chart showcasing that from 75 extra ETH miners per day before October 12th to 662 additional miners per day after.

AutoCoinCars: buy a Tesla with nano!

You can now buy cars in the UK with nano on the innovative car-dealership marketplace, AutoCoinCars. Tesla, Mercedes, BMW — they are all there waiting to be purchased with nano at lightning speed!

CoinRabbit

CoinRabbit — a crypto lending platform — allows you to get loans using XNO as collateral. A user is able to deposit nano as collateral and get a loan in stablecoins (with an annual interest rate), which they can then spend or trade. When the loan comes to a finality, the user will have their collateral returned, as according to CoinRabbit.

With the advent of the next phase of nano which aims to highlight its real world usage as a currency, the Nano Foundation approached renowned London-based production company, Really Bright Media to begin working on a new flagship video for nano!

The video focuses on 3 use cases for nano in the real world and we are so excited to share the finished products with you, keep an eye out over the next few weeks as Christmas may come a little early for the nano community! Nano Foundation Director George Coxon gave a talk on nano at CoinFest Ghana — with Nano Foundation being sponsors of the event, organised by Blockchain Foundation Africa. George placed a WeNano spot in the auditorium filled with Ӿ10 paying out Ӿ0.25 for every visit which is a great onboarding tool for those getting their first nano!

Real Time Club dinner

Colin LeMahieu & George Coxon Dinner were present at the Real Time Club latest dinner with Jon Hammant (Head of Compute for UK & Ireland at Amazon Web Services) as a guest speaker, and have been invited to be the next guest speakers at the forthcoming dinner on December, 14th. The Real Time Club is one of London’s foremost networking institutions where people who share common interest in technology and society can meet. Every year the Real Time Club runs a series of dinners with distinguished speakers on current issues of the information age.​

Role of Blockchain Technology in India

November 25, 2021, Nano Foundation’s Community Lead Aneena Alexander gave a “Cryptocurrencies and Introduction to nano” talk, as part of the AICTE-sponsored program on “Role of Blockchain Technology in India” organised by the Institute of Road and Transport Technology.

St Mary’s School Ascot talk

Nano Foundation Director George Coxon returned to her old school St Mary’s School Ascot for the first time as a visitor after 12 year as an ‘inspirational alumna’ and to share her knowledge about nano.

George put a WeNano spot down on the school grounds filled with Ӿ10 for the students to be able to experience nano for themselves.

It was an amazing opportunity to reach out to the new generation and let them ask any questions about nano, feedback is that the talk had the largest turn out of a guest speaker with more than 3 girls applying for internships afterwards.

Nanovember

It’s been over two months since we introduced the Nano Community Program. Throughout this time, we have seen great work, dedication, and enthusiasm from many of our community ambassadors, CMs and Moderators. We are so proud and pleased with their brilliant work, passion & enthusiasm and look forward to working even more closely with everyone.

The community-driven #Nanovember hashtag united many amazing initiatives led by our awesome community-members with a focus on getting everyone involved and driving awareness and adoption.

1st Week: WeNano

We started the first week of Nanovember with WeNano taking centre stage! The community encouraged people to download WeNano, go for walks with their friends and family to collect some nano at local spots, or make spots if there aren’t any yet.

2nd week: Nano Hub

In the second week of Nanovember, the Community Program Members put Nano Hub in Spotlight, encouraging the community to visit Nano Hub and explore the list of merchants and services.

3rd week: a meme competition

It was hosted as part of National Meme Day around the theme: $XNO. Here, you can view the thread with XNO-themed memes.

3rd week: planting trees with nano

A tree-planting campaign was also organised with a focus towards a green and inclusive future.

Senatus giveaways drive!

Community member extraordinaire, Senatus, continued the nano altruistic spirit having completed a total of 4 hugely successful Reddit giveaways featuring three times on the frontpage on Reddit and over 30+ hours on #1 on popular feed!

With a total of ​​31,444 tips of Ӿ 0.01337 each sent to 25,673 unique Redditors — these drives are an incredible showcase of not only nano but community teamwork — so thank you Senatus, Corican and Shryder for all your incredible work to share nano far & wide (and all those others behind the scenes!)​​

New Telegram groups

NANO El Salvador

The new nano El Salvador Telegram group was launched by our Ambassador Moncho as he started building a regional Nano Community in El Salvador leveraging on the multiple spots the community created on WeNano. With El Salvador being the first to adopt bitcoin as a national currency, it was high time that nano made an appearance before the El Salvador community — being a “supranational” currency with no fees.

Nano SG 🇸🇬

The Community Moderator from Singapore Ashish Sojan took initiative to create a nano Singapore Telegram group to connect with like-minded people across Singapore to discuss all things nano.

Awareness session at a College in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Alisha, the Ambassador from Nepal, organised various outreach events at universities in Kathmandu, Nepal and Kohima India, sponsored by the Nano Foundation.

In addition to that, they organised a friendly football match and distributed nano among the participants. What a great way to introduce nano!

Forest Horsman, the Community Ambassador from the Netherlands, created a quick-start guide to help merchants to start accepting nano.

Carlos Muragas, the Ambassador from Colombia, has organized a virtual meetup for the Spanish Community

NanoNerd, the Ambassador from the UK, hosted the first nano community Twitter Space and has plans to host a lot more, keep an eye out on twitter for topics, special guests and introductions by the nano ambassadors!
