Vulcan Forged Expands Its C-Suite, Onboards Ex-EA Sports And Immutable X Marketing Leaders

Popular Web 3.0 game studio Vulcan Forged has announced the onboarding of a new Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

The game studio has acquired industry veterans with decorated histories as marketing leaders in Immutable and EA Sports following the success of the company’s recent Series A funding.

Chris Bowden, former marketing expert at Immutable, and David Daumas, former EA marketing strategist at EA Sports, will join the Vulcan Forged team as CCO and CMO, respectively.

The company looks to bolster its plans and scale operations with the new appointments. It has hinted at more additions to its C-suite in the new future.

Bringing In Experience From Web 2.0 To Web 3.0

Vulcan Forged is one of the more established game studios in the Web 3.0 gaming sphere, sharing the stage with Animoca Brands, Gala Games, and Sky Mavis.

The seasoned game developer has one of the most diverse ecosystems in the industry, consisting of leading NFT marketplaces, a large community, and a highly successful incubator famous for hit titles such as VulcanVerse, Forge Arena, Vulcan Forged, and more.

Vulcan Forged’s acquisition of Chris Bowden and David Daumas is part of its efforts to bring in seasoned veterans from the Web 2.0 gaming ecosystem to the Web 3.0 gaming space to improve its games and experiences further.

Chris Bowden has played an important role as a leader at gaming giants such as Electronic Arts and Immutable. With over 12 years of experience in the traditional gaming industry, Bowden was vital to Immutable and Electronic Art’s marketing and communications strategies.

Previously, Bowden helped Immutable grow from its $2 million valuation to a $2.5 billion valuation in 2022. Before joining the Web 3.0 space, Bowden led localized marketing strategies in different parts of the world for games like EA Sports’ FIFA and Battlefield franchises.

Subsequently, David Daumas, a seasoned marketing strategist, will be bringing over 15 years of experience to his role as the CMO. Daumas previously worked on EA Sports’ AAA titles, such as FIFA, UFC, NHL, and more.

Daumas and Bowden both shared their excitement for joining Vulcan Forged and the future of the Web 3.0 industry. The newly appointed C-suite officers were supposedly eager to bridge the best practices from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 and define a gold standard for digital ownership, games, and the industry.

Vulcan Forged’s newest addition comes as a surprise, considering the market is currently going through a chaotic storm. The game studio’s recent funding successes and acquisitions indicate strength considering major companies, including Web 3.0 companies, suffer from the current market conditions, leading to hiring freezes and mass layoffs.

On the Flipside

  • FTX was one of the major investors in Vulcan Forged’s Series A funding. Surprisingly, despite being funded by FTX, Vulcan Forged’s token PYR didn’t see significant drops.
  • Recently, competitor game studio Splinterlands reduced its size by a whopping 45%, despite being one of the top games in the space.

Why You Should Care

Vulcan Forged is a leader in the Web 3.0 gaming sphere, host to some of the best games out there. The game studio’s recent additions to its C-suite reflect strength in the Web 3.0 ecosystem, where companies continue to hire and build. Meanwhile, tech giants like Meta, Twitter, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and more are suffering due to the ongoing economic turmoil, doubling down on mass layoffs and hiring freezes.
