Unizen adds banking industry veteran James Taylor as its new CBDO

Financial industry veteran James Taylor has joined cryptocurrency exchange platform Unizen as its Chief Business Development Officer. The move is yet another example of talent moving from the world of traditional finance to the emerging digital assets industry.

Taylor’s experience in the banking industry includes stints at major banks such as BNY Mellon, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank. At BNY Mellon, where Taylor worked before coming to Unizen, he served as a Global Head of Electronic Foreign Exchange sales.

In a post shared by the exchange, Taylor commented on his decision to join Unizen team and the platform’s ambitions in the digital asset space:

“Without a doubt, the team is top-notch in terms of talent, but what impresses me the most is the moral philosophy I see applied by all. I’m very excited by our ambition to be THE universal and unified gateway through which traditional financial market participants access new digital asset marketplaces.”

According to the Unizen team, Taylor plans to leverage his extensive experience and connections to introduce the platform to institutional players like investment banks, hedge funds and other corporates. In addition, Taylor will assist with Unizen’s goal of bolstering the adoption of cryptocurrencies by tackling fundamental challenges like know your customer (KYC) processes and security.

The Unizen team is creating a cryptocurrency exchange that combines elements of centralized exchanges and decentralized finance – the team describes this concept with the shorthand CeDeFi. Unizen uses the Binance Cloud platform, giving it access to trading infrastructure and liquidity from leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance. The platform’s utility token ZCX has recently been listed on the KuCoin exchange.

Unizen are currently developing several functionalities, including a platform where ZCX holders will be able to stake their tokens to unlock access to token sales held by upcoming blockchain projects. According to a roadmap published on the Unizen blog, the project also plans on introducing their centralized exchange module in the third quarter of this year.
