Former U.S. Marine and Ripple’s XRP holders’ attorney, John Deaton, has officially entered the political arena. He is challenging the Democratic incumbent, Elizabeth Warren, for her third term as U.S. Senator.

Hailing from Detroit, Deaton recently relocated to Massachusetts. His focus is on championing the working and middle classes, leveraging his background in the Marines and legal career.

Advocating for the Vulnerable

Deaton’s commitment is evident in a recent campaign video. He vows to tackle the insurance industry and drug companies for more affordable healthcare. Additionally, he pledges to collaborate across party lines on issues like the migrant crisis, inflation, and term limits for “career politicians.”

At 56, Deaton is a newcomer in Massachusetts politics. His opponent, Senator Elizabeth Warren, boasts a substantial campaign fund exceeding $3.9 million.

Deaton has never played it soft when criticizing the unfair. Without sugarcoating his words, Deaton’s direct criticism of Warren accuses her of delivering lectures and playing politics without tangible results for Massachusetts. 

In his campaign video, Deaton directly contrasts the differences between his own history of advocating for and supporting ordinary individuals aka the “little guy” and what he perceives as Elizabeth Warren’s “perceived shortcomings.”

In response, a spokesperson for Warren states that she takes nothing for granted and highlights her strong record of delivering for working families in Massachusetts. Warren released a report detailing over $50 billion in federal support she secured for the state, emphasizing infrastructure investments and broadband funding.

A Look at Deaton’s Background

Deaton’s personal journey adds depth to his candidacy. Growing up in Detroit’s challenging Highland Park neighborhood, he overcame adversity, becoming a Marine veteran and the sole family member to graduate high school. His legal career includes representing mesothelioma victims, and he sees cryptocurrencies as a potential solution for the underprivileged and unbanked.

Notably, Deaton has garnered support from Ripple’s XRP lawyer Bill Morgan, who states,

“Fact checked again and found wanting. Long overdue to be voted out. #DeatonforSenate just a better person with a better character.”

John Deaton’s entry into the Senate race promises a compelling and competitive battle for the Massachusetts Senate seat, reshaping the political landscape.
