Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has been noticeably absent from social media, sparking questions among supporters. His last post on X was on February 21, announcing enhanced liquidity pools on ShibaSwap. Since then, he has only retweeted a few Shiba Inu-related posts, with the most recent on March 7 from Shiba Inu’s partner, Astra Nova.
His lack of updates has led to speculation. Some community members wonder about his whereabouts, while critics make various claims about his absence.
Lucie Addresses Concerns Over Kusama’s Absence
Lucie, Shiba Inu’s marketing lead also responded to the speculation by saying that Kusama’s social media silence was intentional. According to her, he will work off the internet as he looks to uptake the reach of the project, possibly through meeting and partnerships.
Kusama then assured the community that he is still part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem and will keep the community updated on what’s next. However, she stated that “He is working hard to give Shiba Inu global awareness” and that his absence is the part of bigger plans to grow the ecosystem.
Kusama’s Pattern of Social Media Breaks
Kusama’s periodic social media inactivity is not new. He has taken extended breaks before, often returning with major announcements. In May 2024, after a long absence, he revealed that he had traveled to the Middle East for business and personal reasons.
Despite his online inactivity at times, Kusama has described himself as deeply involved in the project’s development. During the holiday season last year, while most were on break, he stated he was working nearly 20 hours a day to build Shiba Inu’s ecosystem. His focus remains on strengthening SHIB’s presence and expanding its utility in the market.
Shiba Inu Team Advances SHIB OS Initiative
While Kusama remains offline, the Shiba Inu team continues rolling out new developments. Lucie recently shared details about SHIB OS, a system designed for decentralized governance.
First introduced by Kusama in January, SHIB OS was described as a “turnkey solution” for governments and enterprises seeking to transition from centralized models to decentralized governance. According to Lucie, SHIB OS is built on Shibarium, the Shiba Inu layer-2 blockchain, providing security, efficiency, and transparency.
She explained that SHIB OS allows for trustless decision-making, improving operations for entities adopting decentralized systems. Lucie called it a foundational innovation for the future of blockchain-based governance, emphasizing that it ensures reliability and immutability.
As Kusama remains offline, the Shiba Inu team moves forward with its roadmap, keeping the community engaged with ongoing advancements. Supporters now wait for his return and any major updates he may bring.
