Real world crypto use! I bought Starbucks with Ethereum!

So crypto for the last few years has been something I dump hard earned cash into and watch it explode, not take profits, and watch it crash in burn.

However my plan during the bear hasn’t changed, DCA, stick to a tight budget and HODL.

Until today, I’m out of cash until Friday but I’m having a real hankering for Starbucks coffee and a double smoked bacon sandwich.

So I have no cash and a ton of crypto, I try to figure a way to actually use crypto to achieve my goal of caffeine and food.

I go to google and find that Starbucks takes PayPal! Load up my PayPal account and update my profile for proper KYC, find that I can send crypto to my account and sell it!

So I send 40.00 of Ethereum over for .42 transaction fee, BOOM within 1 minute it shows up in my account. I sell the Ethereum minus the 2.99 transaction fee. Now I have 37.00 in my PayPal.

I then go to my Starbucks App and load 35.00 onto my Starbucks card and I’m done!

Anyways it’s my first time actually using crypto. Now I’m currently down 35% on my Ethereum investment so I actually paid 54.00 for that 40.00 of Ethereum I used then minus the .42 transaction fee and the 2.99 PayPal fee.

This Starbucks purchase actually cost me 57.41 but I will be harvesting the loss on my taxes for 2022!

Now, off to get my coffee!

Update: the coffee was great but they were out of the double smoked bacon sandwich so I got egg bites.

Also PayPal had an offer that they give me 7.00 just for using my PayPal balance at any store! Heck yeah.

   submitted by /u/Omega3568
[link] [comments]
