Abandoned Hospitals and Asylums

"Abandoned Hospitals and Asylums" is a collection of photos taken from inside some of the most notorious forsaken hospitals and asylums, across the USA and Italy. Countless hours of research, flying and/or driving, combined with gaining access to these off-limits spaces, contribute to their mysterious intrigue. The collection was captured over 6 years and includes photos from some of my riskiest, adrenaline pumping explores to date. Each hospital holds unique and often dark stories from it’s active existence, while shedding light on past and present mental health treatments. At present, some of these hospitals have collapsed or been demolished, which means they will never again be photographed in their bewitchingly, broken state. These select photos have now become a piece of history and serve as a reminder to treat those suffering from mental illness with empathy and compassion.
