Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1978, Teppei Kaneuji earned a master’s degree in sculpture from the Kyoto City University of the Arts. He was included in the exhibition “MOT Annual 2008 Unraveling and Revealing” held by the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in 2008, and became the youngest artist to hold a solo exhibition at the Yokohama Art Museum in 2009. In 2011 his work was selected as the cover of the Singapore Biennale catalogue. He is adept at releasing daily objects from their usual functions via a collage method and infusing new meanings to their existence in an otherworldly milieu of his fabrication.\\n \\n Teppei Kaneuji often crosses borders to work with creative talents in different fields. His collaborators include celebrated photographer Kawashima Kotori, Akutagawa Prize winner Sayaka Murata, Kishida Kunio Drama Award winner Toshiki Okada, and ANDAM Fashion Award winner Julien David. He was invited by T.O.P. (Choi Seung-hyun), member of Asia’s reigning K-Pop group BIGBANG, to make works based on T.O.P. figures in the #TTTOP auction at Sotheby’s.
