Kabosu, the famous Japanese dog behind the Dogecoin logo, sadly passed away today morning at 07:50 am. The Shiba Inu breed dog, aged 18 years, was behind the viral dog memes with her uncommon facial expression and sitting style in 2013 and became Dogecoin’s face in the crypto industry. It is a sad event, but Kabosu was sick for a long and is finally resting. She was and will be loved by her family and the entire crypto industry.

Atsuko Sato, the owner of the Dogecoin Dog informed the world about the passing of Kabosu through a blog post, explaining how she was suffering for a long. Kabosu has not been doing well since 2022 because of liver disease, further with leukemia.

She quietly passed away as if asleep while I caressed her. I think Kabo-chan was the happiest dog in the world. And I was the happiest owner, said Sato

Kabosu’s family has decided to host a Farewell party to celebrate Kabosu, the Dogecoin Dog life this Sunday, 26th May 2024, in Narita City at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori from 1 to 4 pm.

How did Dogecoin Dog Become famous?

Atsuko Sato, a teacher from Sakura, east of Tokyo, adopted Kabosu in 2008 from a puppy mill. After two years, Ms Sato posted Kabosu’s pictures of crossing her paws on the sofa online, which went viral. The memes of Kabosu included funny broken English, revealing the basic words and thoughts.

The meme went so viral that two software engineers decided to create a meme coin with this meme, and that’s how Kabosu became the Dogecoin Dog. Now Kabosu is world famous with thousands of fans all around the world. More importantly, Dogecoin has built a market cap of $23.8 billion. The Kabosu meme was not limited to crypto, as it was also turned into a Non-Fungible Token (NFT), and sold for $4 Million.

Moreover, Elon Musk, Snoop Dogg, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, and many others have supported Dogecoin for a long. Even, Elon Musk had once changed the X logo to Dogecoin Logo. Moreover, Own The Doge crypto organization has gifted Ms Sato a $100,000 statue of Kabosu and her sofa to honor the Dogecoin Dog.

The fame received by the Kabosu has also helped society as Ms Sato has done multiple charities over the years.
