🚨WARNING: No App Store is safe! Also, Kraken is being extorted by a criminal group.

Where do I start?

First off, a fake Ledger Live app has been published on the App Store.

One user downloaded it on his PC and lost $490K in BTC after the app asked for his seed phrase.

His wallet was drained instantly…

We CANNOT rely on app stores to vet apps and keep us safe. That responsibility is on us.

Education and awareness is key. I repeat, education is KEY.

Do NOT download apps from Google. Go directly to the official website and use their app link.

Also check the basics:

– App developer
– Number of reviews
– How long it’s been listed

Scam apps usually have barely any reviews. Real apps have hundreds or even thousands and go back years.

Second, my favorite crypto exchange Kraken is being extorted by a criminal group who bribed one of their employees for access to client portals.

This has happened twice. Once in February, and again more recently.

The employee has already had their access revoked, and Kraken says they are NOT paying anything to the attackers.

Something similar happened to Coinbase last year.

But this is your reminder… exchanges are NOT for storage.

They are exchanges.

Treat them like public restrooms. Do your business and get out.

Just remember this: K.I.S.S.

Keep It Stupid Simple.

- Get a cold wallet
- Send your crypto to your cold wallet
- Treat it like your savings account
- Don’t connect it to random websites
- Never share your seed phrase

That’s it. Crypto security 101. Thank me later.
