Hyperliquid HYPE Retests Trendline as Cumberland Move Raises Stakes

Hyperliquid price prediction traders are watching a second attempt unfold on the same trendline.
HYPE tapped its rising support line, pushed higher, but stopped just short of its recent high and pulled back.
Now the price is testing that same trendline again and trying for a second run at the move; it could not complete the first time.
A large exchange deposit from a well-known market maker is adding a bit of tension to the setup too. Here is where things stand.
Hyperliquid Price Today: Live Data and 24-Hour Change
$HYPE is trading at $81.971 at the time of writing, down $1.5621, or 1.87%, over the past 24 hours.
Futures volume over the same period stands at $2.71 billion, while spot volume sits at $170.84 million.
Market cap is holding at $20.59 billion, open interest is at $3.32 billion, and circulating supply is 251.71 million HYPE against a total supply and max supply that both sit at 952.07 million tokens.

Hyperliquid Latest News and Market Catalyst
Trading firm Cumberland moved 170,000 HYPE, worth close to $14.09 million, to Bybit and Coinbase on behalf of its clients.
Some of those clients had unstaked their tokens just hours before the transfer, while others had been holding for months, so this was not one single seller acting on impulse.
Deposits like this are usually watched closely because they can be a precursor to selling pressure, and a move of this size lines up with the pullback HYPE has shown after each recent attempt near its highs.

HYPE Liquidation Data and Market Positioning
Liquidation flow over the past day leans clearly toward longs, showing that traders betting on continued upside have taken the bigger hit.
Over the last 24 hours, $4.07 million in positions were liquidated, with $3.43 million of that coming from longs against just $643.94K from shorts.
The 12-hour window shows a similar lean, with $2.65 million total rekt, $2.38 million from longs versus $267.45K from shorts.
Zoom into the last 4 hours, and the picture flips a bit, with $160.33K liquidated overall and shorts actually taking more of the damage at $159.93K against just $402.64 from longs, a sign that the recent bounce off the trendline caught some short sellers off guard.

Quick Take
CMP: $81.979 on the 4-hour Binance perpetual chart
Bullish trigger: 4-hour close above $84.164 needed to confirm this second trendline attempt is holding
Bullish continuation levels: $86.823, then $91.995
Bearish trigger: 4-hour close below $78.573
Bearish target on breakdown: $76.682
Data timestamp: August 31, 2026, 16:17 UTC+5:30
Risk note: $HYPE already failed to clear its recent high on the first attempt off this trendline, so this second push needs a real close above $84.164 before it should be treated as confirmed strength
Hyperliquid Technical Analysis
On the 4-hour HYPE/USDT perpetual chart on Binance, the price recently bounced off an ascending trendline and pushed higher, but the move ran out of steam just below its recent swing high without actually breaking it.
$HYPE has now come back down to tap that same trendline a second time and is pushing higher again, essentially getting a second shot at the level it missed the first time around in this Hyperliquid technical analysis.
If HYPE breaks and closes above $84.164 on the 4-hour chart, that would finally clear the level that stopped the first attempt, with the next resistance at $86.823, followed by $91.995 as the extended target for this Hyperliquid price prediction.
On the downside, if $HYPE breaks and closes below $78.573, the next support to watch drops to $76.682.
The momentum reading of the RSI on the chart sat in bearish territory during the pullback earlier in the week and has since eased to a more neutral 51.08, which fits a market that cooled off but has not fully committed to either direction yet.

Bull, Base, and Bear Case for HYPE
In the bull case, HYPE clears its recent high this time and closes above $84.164 with real follow-through, opening a path toward $86.823 and then $91.995.
The base case has HYPE chopping between $78.573 and $84.164 for a while as the market weighs the Cumberland deposit against the fresh trendline retest before picking a clear direction.
In the bear case, HYPE closes below $78.573, breaking the trendline structure that has held up through two tests now, and price works its way toward a retest of $76.682.
Risks to This Hyperliquid Price Prediction
The biggest risk here is a repeat of the first attempt, where HYPE bounced off the trendline but still failed to clear resistance.
A second failure at $84.164 would weaken the bullish case considerably.
The Cumberland exchange deposit also adds near-term selling pressure that the chart alone does not capture.
Broader Bitcoin price action, shifts in overall crypto risk sentiment, and general altcoin weakness could all pull HYPE away from this setup regardless of how the trendline plays out.
This analysis is based purely on current chart structure and available data, and conditions can change quickly.
