Key Insights:

  • Solana news shows the chain accounts for nearly 40% of monthly USDC senders, leading all blockchain networks in stablecoin activity.
  • Monthly USDC senders have reached a record 14.1 million, highlighting growing on-chain stablecoin adoption.
  • Solana leads USDC transfers while Ethereum remains dominant in total USDC supply and issuance.

Latest Solana news shows the chain has claimed the top spot among monthly USDC senders. The number of USDC senders across all blockchains hit a fresh all-time high of roughly 14.1 million, and Solana accounts for roughly 40% of that.

This piece of Solana news shows exactly where Circle’s stablecoin sees the most real daily use instead of sitting idle in wallets.

Data from Token Terminal shows a brief spike around 2022, before USDC movement across blockchains exploded at the end of 2023 through 2026. The latest reading sits near 14.1 million and has held near those highs after a steep climb that erased earlier records.

This win comes shortly after Circle printed a fresh $290 million worth of USDC on the Solana chain on 9 August. This is likely due to the high demand on Solana. The network clears more DEX volume than any other chain by far.

Solana Lags Behind Ethereum on USDC Issuance Despite Leading in Transfers

Despite Solana taking the lead in USDC stablecoin transfers, Ethereum remains the largest stablecoin ecosystem with $162.4 billion worth of USDC, Token Terminal data showed.

Tron was the runner-up with 91.3 billion USDC. Meanwhile, Solana has grown to $14.8 billion, with newer ecosystems such as HyperEVM already surpassing $5 billion.

Moreover, Ethereum remained the primary settlement layer for USDC as of 5 August. Nearly 70% of USDC’s $71.8 billion market cap was issued on Ethereum, followed by Solana (9.8%), HyperEVM (7.9%) and Base (5.8%).

Solana might be winning in terms of transfers (payments, swaps, and regular moves) due to its cheap fees and high speeds. However,  Ethereum still carries the bulk of the on-chain weight. Solana price traded at $76.75, up 0.6% for the day as of the time of writing, while Ethereum dropped 0.2% to trade at $1,913.

Why do Sender Counts Reveal Real USDC Use?

While Ethereum leads in mass, Solana leads in speed and usability. While TVL shows the health of the system, active users show whether the chain is actually usable.

The more active users, the more the ease of using the chain, and Circle knows this. Circle is on the hunt for users and getting USDC in front of as many eyes as possible.

This is because Stablecoin issuers earn money through interest on reserves, institutional fees, lending interest, crypto yield, and partnerships and integrations. Deploying more USDC on chains where it hardly moves contradicts their business model.

Other chains still hold plenty of USDC supply, yet the people actually sending the stablecoin have concentrated on Solana. This sender metric cuts straight to stablecoin adoption.

Supply numbers can look big while most tokens stay locked. Monthly unique senders track real reach and repeat use of the stablecoin. When that figure hits a new high, and one chain owns nearly half of it, users have voted with their transactions.

Latest Solana News Updates Further Bolster its Usability

Aside from dominating other chains in terms of USDC usage, Solana also clinched a few headlines this week. First, BlackRock filed with the SEC to issue tokenized BRSRV fund shares on Solana.

Shortly after, Western Union launched its USDPT-powered Stablecard with Raincards across 37 markets. Solana processed a record 1.01B non-vote transactions in the past 1 week alone.

Stablecoin adoption gains traction when people move the tokens. The new high in monthly USDC senders proves more wallets have started transferring value on-chain.

Circle’s USDC has found its heaviest day-to-day flow on Solana, where low fees and fast settlement have pulled the activity in. The above data shows the result in clear numbers.

Overall USDC sender activity has never sat higher, and Solana has taken the largest slice of it. That combination clearly marks Solana as the current center of stablecoin use in the blockchain space.
