In 2011 the US toppled Gadaffi's regime in Libya because he wanted to introduce a gold-backed currency and wanted to sell his oil exclusivly in that currency, as a rival to the petrodollar. This has lead to Libya becoming a civil war ridden failed state, in which there is de facto legalized slavery.
If the US is willing to do this why wouldn't they be equally ruthless with bitcoin. We could see the US military attacking countries that adopt Bitcoin or the CIA assassinating prominent figures in the Bitcoin movement
