Stablecoin infrastructure provider Rain has raised $250 million in a Series C funding round, valuing it at a staggering $1.95 billion as of January 9, 2026. This investment marks a 17-fold increase from the company’s Series A valuation just 10 months earlier, bringing its total funding to over $338 million.
As Rain evolves from niche crypto tools to mainstream payment systems, these funding rounds reflect the growing popularity of stablecoins. This increase comes amid clearer regulations, such as the U.S. GENIUS Act and Europe’s MiCA framework.
Rain Secures $250M From Investors
Rain, founded in 2021, recently completed a Series C funding round, attracting well-known investors such as Sapphire Ventures, Dragonfly, Bessemer Venture Partners, Galaxy Ventures, FirstMark, Lightspeed, Norwest, and Endeavor Catalyst. These investors see the company’s potential in connecting traditional finance with the efficiency of blockchain.
Rain is a Visa Principal Member, which allows stablecoin balances to be used at over 150 million merchants across more than 150 countries. Transactions are settled instantly on the blockchain, providing a shopping experience that feels just like using regular money, without any added complications.
In the past year, the company has increased the number of active cards by 30 times and payment volumes by 80 times. CEO and co-founder Farooq Malik noted that more people are using stablecoins for global money transfers. He also stressed the need for reliable payment systems to help promote wider use.
Rain’s Expansion Strategy
Rain will use proceeds from the funding to support its global expansion, including the acquisition of licenses across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The company plans to make significant investments in compliance features and product development.
This strategy will address key issues traditional payment systems face, such as delays and high costs. The rise in value indicates that venture capitalists are optimistic about real-world applications of blockchain technology. Analysts see this as proof that stablecoins are becoming key financial tools.
The funding will speed up innovation in enterprise treasury management, remittances, and consumer spending. Rain aims to make tokenized money the default option for both businesses and individual users. Overall, the deal indicates a shift toward the operational dominance of stablecoins in global commerce.
