Tether has moved further into traditional finance with a proposed takeover of Juventus, placing crypto capital inside one of Europe’s most iconic football clubs. The company submitted a binding offer to acquire Juventus from Exor, which controls 65.4% of the club through the Agnelli family holding structure. That stake is historically significant, as the Agnelli family has guided Juventus for more than a century.
Markets reacted quickly to the news. Juventus shares surged, lifting the club’s valuation close to €1 billion and valuing Exor’s stake at roughly €540 million. The rally suggested investor expectations of fresh capital and strategic change. Crypto-linked assets followed suit, with the JUV fan token jumping about 30%.
Tether outlined plans to extend its bid through a public offer for remaining shares at the same price, subject to regulatory approval. Beyond the acquisition, Tether signaled deep involvement, stating it could inject up to €1 billion more to support infrastructure, squad development, and global expansion.

From a strategic standpoint, Juventus represents a powerful global asset, offering unmatched visibility and commercial reach. The club enjoys strong brand recognition not only across Europe but also throughout Asia and the Americas, making it an attractive platform for international expansion.
According to Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, the bid reflects a clear focus on long-term value creation rather than short-term speculation. He has described Juventus as a vehicle for sustainable business growth, supported by its historic legacy and worldwide fanbase.
Notably, the proposed takeover would mark a rare instance of crypto ownership within elite football, positioning a digital finance firm at the heart of global sports culture. This move aligns with a broader industry trend, as crypto companies increasingly target real-world assets to enhance credibility and diversification.
Beyond financial backing, potential governance changes could shape Juventus’ long-term direction. While supporters remain cautiously optimistic, regulatory scrutiny, transparency, and execution will be critical, as the outcome may influence future crypto-led ownership models in traditional institutions.
