What is a Coin?

A coin is a form of currency that is used to purchase goods and services. Coins are usually made from metal, such as copper, silver, gold, or nickel. Guacamole is a type of Mexican coin which was first issued in 1732 by the Spanish colonial government in Mexico City.

Guacamole coins were minted from copper and had a value of one real (1/8th of a peso). The obverse side featured the coat of arms of New Spain with the inscription “Nueva España” while the reverse side featured an image of a cactus with two crossed swords above it. The denomination was written below the cactus image.

The coins were originally intended to be used as small change but eventually became popular among collectors due to their unique design and rarity. Today, Guacamole coins can be found in various denominations ranging from 1/4 reales to 8 reales. They are highly sought after by numismatists and can fetch high prices at auctions.
