What to Know
- Bitcoin’s rising 50-day moving average is approaching the 200-day average, creating a potential golden cross following August’s strong recovery rally.
- A daily close above $82,000 could confirm bullish momentum and open a path toward $85,000 before $100,000 becomes a realistic target.
- Support near $75,900 protects Bitcoin’s structure, while losing $72,800 would weaken the golden cross and expose deeper correction risks.
Bitcoin is approaching a golden cross, but $82,000 resistance will determine whether its improving structure can support another major advance. The cryptocurrency trades near $79,250, placing buyers within reach of a price level that has repeatedly attracted strong selling pressure.
Bitcoin recovered significantly from its June low near $58,000 and later accelerated from approximately $63,000 toward $80,000. Consequently, the August rally changed its moving-average structure and restored several important levels that previously acted as resistance.
Bitcoin’s 200-day moving average currently stands around $72,830, providing an important foundation for the wider bullish outlook. Meanwhile, the 50-day moving average has risen toward $70,210 as recent gains strengthen Bitcoin’s medium-term momentum.
The 100-day average sits near $70,560, leaving both medium-term indicators positioned within a narrow range. More importantly, the rising 50-day average is approaching the 200-day line, creating the conditions required for a golden cross.
Traders generally view this crossover as bullish because it reflects improving price performance against the longer-term market trend. However, moving-average crossovers rely on historical price movements and often appear once a substantial recovery has already occurred.
Bitcoin had already gained considerably before the developing technical signal became visible on the daily chart. Therefore, the crossover would confirm stronger momentum, although it cannot guarantee another rally without support from current price action.

Bitcoin Needs a Confirmed $82,000 Breakout to Establish Its Next Major Move
Bitcoin has struggled between $80,000 and $82,000, making this resistance zone the central test for the developing golden cross. Its latest attempt reached approximately $81,500 before sellers pushed the cryptocurrency back toward the $79,000 region.
This rejection shows that buyers remain active, although they have not gained convincing control above the local resistance area. Additionally, Bitcoin’s relative strength index has retreated from overbought territory and currently stands near 62.
Its signal average remains around 68, suggesting bullish momentum remains present but has moderated from earlier levels. A daily close above $82,000 would remove the main local barrier and provide stronger confirmation for the golden cross.
Furthermore, a successful breakout could create room for Bitcoin to advance toward the next notable resistance near $85,000. Holding above that level could strengthen expectations surrounding an eventual push toward the psychologically important $100,000 target.
Nevertheless, buyers would need sustained demand and firm follow-through to prevent another rejection from weakening the breakout attempt. Failure to clear $82,000 could leave Bitcoin consolidating between resistance and its nearest significant dynamic support.

The first important support sits near $75,900, where buyers could defend the broader recovery structure during another pullback. Below that area, the 200-day moving average around $72,800 represents a stronger technical foundation for Bitcoin’s medium-term trend.
A decisive loss of $75,900 would weaken momentum and increase the possibility of a deeper correction toward the 200-day average. Moreover, falling beneath $72,800 would seriously undermine the bullish interpretation associated with the approaching moving-average crossover.
Bitcoin’s next major move therefore depends more on its reaction around $82,000 than the golden cross alone. A confirmed breakout would support further gains, while another rejection could extend consolidation or expose lower support levels.
