What is a Coin?

A coin is a small, flat, round piece of metal or plastic used primarily as a medium of exchange or legal tender. They are standardized in weight, and produced in large quantities at a mint in order to facilitate trade. Coins are most often issued by a government. The first coins were developed independently in Iron Age Anatolia and Archaic Greece, and then spread to Rome and Persia. Coins have been used since the 6th century BC, although they had no monetary value until the 4th century BC.

In 2017, General Wireless Operations Inc., an affiliate of Standard General LP acquired 1,743 RadioShack locations from Sprint Corp., which had purchased them out of bankruptcy.

These stores offer products ranging from consumer electronics such as smartphones and tablets to home appliances such as vacuums and air conditioners.
