In Brief:

  • Charles Schwab’s filing disclosed $11.39 million in XRP ETF collateral supporting repurchase agreements with two Wall Street counterparties.
  • Eight collateral entries involved XRP products from Bitwise, Canary Capital, Franklin Templeton, and Grayscale within institutional financing arrangements reported publicly.
  • SoSoValue recorded nearly $2 million in net inflows across five XRP products, indicating broader investor demand for regulated exposure overall.

A new Charles Schwab regulatory filing shows $11.39 million in XRP ETF exposure through collateral supporting institutional financing agreements. The exposure appeared in the Schwab Prime Advantage Money Fund’s Form N-MFP3, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 8. The document covered the money market fund’s portfolio holdings and financing arrangements as of August 31.

According to the filing’s underlying XML data, eight collateral entries were connected to XRP exchange-traded funds. The products came from Bitwise, Canary Capital, Franklin Templeton, and Grayscale, with their combined reported value reaching approximately $11.39 million.

Those ETF shares were secured repurchase agreements between Schwab Prime Advantage Money Fund and two Wall Street counterparties. Therefore, Charles Schwab’s exposure resulted from collateral received through lending arrangements rather than an intentional investment in XRP products.

Repurchase agreements allow one party to obtain short-term financing by providing securities and agreeing to repurchase them under specified terms. The pledged securities protect the cash provider if the borrower fails to fulfill its repayment obligation.

XRP ETF Collateral Highlights Expanding Institutional Utility

The disclosure shows that regulated XRP investment products are gaining functions beyond providing investors with direct price exposure. Their inclusion as collateral places them within established financing structures commonly used throughout traditional financial markets.

Nevertheless, collateral exposure differs significantly from fund ownership or direct cryptocurrency accumulation. Schwab Prime Advantage Money Fund primarily provided cash, while the counterparties supplied XRP ETF shares to secure their obligations.

XRP ETF Products Record Additional Investor Inflows

Separately, XRP ETFs recorded positive investment activity during Tuesday’s trading session. According to SoSoValue, the five XRP products monitored by the platform attracted nearly $2 million in combined net inflows.

Those inflows represent investor capital entering the tracked products, unlike the collateral listed in Charles Schwab’s filing. Although both developments involve XRP ETFs, they reflect different forms of participation within the financial system.

Moreover, the involvement of four established asset managers demonstrates the expanding selection of regulated products offering exposure to XRP. These instruments can serve investors while also functioning as securities within institutional financing arrangements. The SEC filing ultimately reveals indirect XRP ETF exposure exceeding $11 million through collateralized transactions.
