I'm thinking about making a game where you customize your stats and equipment to fight souls so you can get paid in the real world.

TL; DR

I wanted to ask for feedback on this fast-paced, RPG-based fighting game where people fight each other's souls and get paid in the real world by winning fights, designing arena environments, mining Ores, create fun props to help or test Fighters. It's a game that's community-built. Feel free to comment below.

Techie TL;DR

By leveraging Ethereum as a smart contract platform, we're building a game where players, designers, and even the audience members earn money from fights and digital asset ownership. Feel free to comment below.

Hi, I've been working on this gaming concept for a while.

It's a game that isn't built by some large developer from the top-down: it's built from the bottom-up.

It's a game that's built by the community.

People design armor, equipment, and accessories for Fighters to equip and customize as they like.

People design their own characters. You have unlimited Avatars and build a Party or an Army.

People design and stake MOVES to Fighters and make money when these MOVES are used.

It's called, "Fights of Ether". It's a game where you fight souls in an ethereal plane and make money in the real world.

Yes, that is 100% true.

Okay, What Does That Mean in English?

I'm making a RPG-based fighting game where you fight other fighters controlled by other players all over the world in the Ether Plane.

Then, people can bet if you can win in a fight or not.

If you win, you get paid from the fight that you've won.

However, the most important thing is about Fights of Ether is not a game developed by a company.

It's a game that is developed and managed by the community of users.

THE Basic Mechanics of The Game

There are 5 main/primary Elements:

  • EARTH beats SKY
  • SKY beats OCEAN
  • OCEAN beats EARTH
  • SPACE empowers your Fighter from your EQUIP STATS and MOVES more so your Fighter is more heavily customizable but overall weaker.
  • SOUL empowers your Fighter from their Internal STATS (i.e. "SPEED/POWER; FAR-RANGE/CLOSE-RANGE) that are harder to customize than just modifying EQUIPMENT for your Fighter but makes your Fighter overall stronger without EQUIPMENT altogether.

In combat, each Fighter can only **have 4 ACTIVE MOVES.**You can customize your MOVES with any of your Fighter.

In fact, you can even change your Fighter's Element Type completely by modifying your equipment and your 4 ACTIVE MOVES that you can use in combat.

The combat is Tekken meets Final Fantasy meets Super Smash Bros.

  • It's like Tekken as you have a health bar.
  • It's like Final Fantasy as you can upgrade that health bar and its associated magic bar.
  • It's like Super Smash Bros. because anyone (even you) can create the ARENAS.

One ARENA can be Final Fantasy 7-inspired that sends catcus needles at you as a Fighter or another ARENA can target one Fighter with the lesser HP every 30 seconds.

You never know what kind of arena that you are going to get.

Fights of Ether runs on XP....literally

You can sell XP to other designers for some cash but they need it to make their MOVES, ACCESSORIES, and EQUIPMENT more powerful to sell and encourage continuous use from you.

So, even as a Fighter, when you don't feel like fighting one day, you can sell some XP for some cash. Also**, you can (manually) send** your XP to your MOVES, EQUIPMENT, ACCESSORIES so you can level up specific MOVES, EQUIPMENT, and ACCESSORIES.

(Yes, your MOVES, EQUIPMENT, and ACCESSORIES are upgradeable).

...or you could upgrade your XP so you can make your core Fighter stronger outside of the EQUIPMENT by putting some XP into Internal Stats.

However, Internal Stats force you to pick one over the other.

FAR-RANGE allows you to better attack farther range but you're more vulnerable but CLOSE-RANGE allows you to be stronger but your attack range is so limited.

Once you send the XP, it's gone forever.

The Different Types of Players

  • Audience Members stake funds on the right Fighter so they can earn money from their bet.
  • Fighters are players who fight against or aside other Fighters in ARENAS.
  • Designers design ARENAS, PROPs, EQUIPMENT, and ITEMs so they can make money in their sleep.
  • Miners mine Ores so they can sell to designers.
  • Organizers create either third-party single-player RPG games that you can seamlessly migrate your Fighter into a fun experience or create a tournament where you can win fame and big money.
  • Composers make music so that when it plays, they get paid.

Combat System

There are 3 metrics to keep track of during a fight:

  • HP is obviously health points. Once it meets 0, you die....but you know this.
  • MP is obviously magic points. See as above but you don't die, you can't perform moves.
  • Recharge Meter. You get 4 bars. Some Moves require 1 bar but they're less powerful. Some MOVES require 4 Bars as they are more powerful but they take up more MP and Recharge Meter.

The Economy System

  1. Miners mine Ores. (Ores are elemental objects that dictate what Element Type your Fighter is going to be.)
  2. Miners sell Ores to Designers.
  3. Designers use Ores, XP, and tools to customize EQUIPMENT, ARENAS, ITEMS, and PROPS.
  4. Through smart contracts, deals are made between parties.
  5. A fight happens!
  6. The audience stakes money into the fight
  7. The winning Fighter wins and the audience member gets their winnings from the game.
  8. The percentage of earnings are transferred to the Fighters and the designers responsible.

Fun Scenarios with Fights of ETH?

So, what kind of fun things can happen with you?

  • People make money in their sleep because two fighters fought in an arena that they built.
  • You can create your own party of creators.
  • People can develop third-party apps on top of this game so you can transfer your "Party Members" into fun games set up by members with the community.
  • You can bet money on which fighter is going to win and if that fighter wins, you win money from the fight.
  • Because the developer doesn't develop the game, the community develops WEAPONS. People can store unlockable features as you load enough XP into a weapon allowing you to mature as a better Fighter with the same weapon.
  • Accessories have activation scenarios that you can trigger in certain moments so when you can either be very lucky to be saved or kill your enemy.
  • Some props have been summoned by another Fighter into an ARENA, you can use them to win your Fight against your opponent.
  • As a miner, you can team up with other Miners to pool resources together to mine an Ore to keep to sell to designers.
  • You can create as many people in your Party Roster as you want. You can have Fighters that are great at far-range attacks, Fighters that work better with a certain Elemental Moves, or just Fighters that you use to be superpowered under the right conditions.

Is This Magic, Bullshit, or Something Else?

It's smart contracts basically.

For those of you not in the know (which is pretty much everyone not involved with crypto), smart contracts allow for autonomous agreements.

Think of a vending machine. You put a $1 bill in and get soda without human involvement. The same concept applies to smart contracts.

Long story short, we're building a RPG-based fighting game on top of the Ethereum Network (ah! get the name now? Fights of ETH) so we can leverage it as a smart contract platform.)

By structuring our smart contracts into simple agreements and offer some customization to the end user, people will be able to negotiate their commissions from their created digital assets.

Also, because of that, people can create ARENAS, PROPS, EQUIPMENT, and ACCESSORIES and through those smart contracts, you can earn money while you're asleep.

In essence, you will have assets that make money for you while leveraging what you've learned from playing RPG games.

For More Information. I Will Respond Back.

I'm actively responding to all comments about this.

I just want some feedback: "Is this a good game?"
