500 supply. ALTERNATIVE WORLDS is a collection of my ink drawings depicting unusual settings for homes in the universe. In these alternative worlds, planets are replaced by organic vessels that carry cities as they travel through space. In the details of these vessels, you’ll find memories and imagery from the six countries I've lived in. I'm deeply fascinated by science - something that I play with in this series by fusing the mechanical with the living: satellites, machines, and planets blend with organisms to create unique symbiotic settings for civilizations. Fahad Karim is an artist and engineer based in New York City. With pen and paper or through generative algorithms, Fahad’s work explores and celebrates human culture: symbolism and icons from different corners of the planet, dreams and mythological creatures, and the ever-shifting boundary between the artificial and the organic.
