What is a Coin?
A coin is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrencies are decentralized networks based on blockchain technology, which is a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers. Streamr, one such cryptocurrency, is an open source project that aims to provide users with access to real-time data streams in order for them to create and trade data products. Streamr's native token, DATAcoin (DATA), serves as the fuel for the Streamr Network and provides users with access to its services.
The Streamr Network consists of two main components: the Data Marketplace and the Data Union Framework. The Data Marketplace allows users to buy and sell data streams from various sources including IoT devices, websites, apps, etc., while the Data Union Framework enables developers to build applications on top of it that can be used by anyone.
Streamr has been designed with scalability in mind so that it can handle large amounts of data without compromising performance or security. It also offers low transaction fees compared to other cryptocurrencies and supports smart contracts which allow developers to automate certain processes within their applications.
Overall, Streamr provides users with an efficient way to monetize their data streams while giving developers access to powerful tools for building decentralized applications on top of it.
