XRP Price Prediction: Can Bulls Defend $1.35 Before CPI Data Drops?

XRP price dropped to its lowest point in a week. The move happens just one day before the US releases fresh CPI inflation data on September 11.

Traders are watching closely. Many are also opening short positions, betting that XRP could fall further in the short term.

XRP trades at $1.38 today, down 3.08% in the last 24 hours. The slide matches a broader pullback across the top ten cryptocurrencies by market cap.

XRP Price Today: What Is Happening?

XRP has slipped alongside the wider crypto market. All major coins in the top ten are trading lower today.

The token's market cap now sits at $87.2 billion. That is still a large number, but the short-term trend has turned cautious.

Why Are Traders Shorting XRP Right Now?

Data from CoinGlass shows XRP's funding rate has dropped to -0.0094%. That is the lowest reading since June 28.

A negative funding rate means short sellers are paying long traders to keep their positions open. This usually signals that bears have more control in the short term.

The long/short ratio has also fallen to 0.008783. In simple terms, there are far more accounts betting on a price drop than accounts betting on a rise.

This bearish mood lines up with the upcoming US CPI report. Wall Street expects core inflation to rise 0.22% month over month.

Analysts also expect the headline CPI to climb to 0.39% month over month, partly due to tension in the Middle East. Still, the core CPI reading on a yearly basis is expected to ease slightly to 2.4%.

The European Central Bank is also expected to raise rates by 25 basis points today, adding more uncertainty to global markets.

Fed Rate Odds for the September Meeting

Prob. Move to 375-400

Odds have shifted over the past month. A week ago, the no-change probability was near 50.6%. That has now dropped to 39.6%, showing traders are leaning toward a shift in rates by the next Fed meeting.

Is XRP Still Getting ETF Inflows?

Despite the price dip, institutional demand has not disappeared. SoSoValue data shows XRP ETFs pulled in $12.29 million in inflows on September 9.

That is the highest daily inflow for XRP ETFs since September 1. XRP posted the second-highest inflows that day, behind only Ethereum, which brought in $34.75 million.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, saw outflows of $120.24 million on the same day. This split shows money moving toward altcoins even as Bitcoin faces pressure.

What Does the XRP Volume Z-Score Mean for Price?

CryptoQuant data tracked by analyst Arab Chain shows the XRP Volume Z-Score on Binance has dropped to -0.09.

A Z-score near zero means current trading volume is close to its 30-day average. It is neither unusually high nor unusually low.

Arab Chain noted that if this indicator stays near zero or turns more negative, it could point to quiet trading activity and softer short-term momentum.

Still, some on-chain data shows whale wallets have been active recently, and their buying appears to match the steady demand coming from institutions through ETFs.

Could the Clarity Act Push XRP Price Higher?

Senator Cynthia Lummis posted this week that the Senate should act on comments made by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. She urged lawmakers to pass the Clarity Act.

The bill aims to set clear rules for the crypto industry in the US. Lummis said it would protect consumers, support law enforcement, and keep crypto business based in America.

The bill still needs to clear the Senate before it can reach President Trump's desk. Regulatory clarity like this has historically been a positive catalyst for XRP price sentiment, given Ripple's past legal battles with the SEC.

XRP Support and Resistance Levels to Watch

XRP is consolidating inside what chart watchers call a bullish flag pattern, following its earlier rally this year.

Support levels: $1.35 to $1.36 is the first zone to watch. A daily close below $1.35 could open the door toward $1.29, and then $1.26.

Resistance levels: $1.43 to $1.45 is the first hurdle. Above that sits the $1.54 to $1.55 Fibonacci zone.

If XRP can close above $1.45 with strong volume, the flag pattern could point toward $1.54 to $1.60. A larger breakout move could stretch toward $1.70.

The RSI reading is still above 50, which keeps the near-term bias cautiously bullish. But traders say a real volume-backed breakout is still needed to confirm any bigger move.

What Is the XRP Price Prediction for This Week?

For now, XRP sits between rising short interest, steady ETF demand, and a market waiting on tomorrow's CPI print. That mix could keep price action choppy in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Any price target made today should be treated as a range, not a fixed number, given how much the CPI print and Fed rate odds could move the market.
