Unknown Women is a first-of-its-kind art collection and homage of 1875 portraits. The collection is unique because it intentionally seeks to capture the pivotal, controversial, and empowering effect Web3 and AI are having on culture and art. For that reason UKW is formatted deliberately as a PFP, a symbol of Web3 and its democratic potential, inviting you to participate in the defining cultural questions of our time: "Who defines art? —How are digital avatars, PFPs, different from commissioned portraits of the past? — Why do we choose an ape vs penguin as our digital identity? — Where is the line between artist and machine? — How do we value artists in society? ” To add further intrigue each of the 1875 works is signed uniquely, leaving a visual trace of the artist’s, human hand.
