Art of Flame

The control of fire by early humans was a critical technology enabling the evolution of humans. Fire provided a source of warmth and lighting, protection from predators, a way to create more advanced hunting tools, and a method for cooking food. These cultural advances allowed human dispersal, cultural innovations, and changes to diet and geographic behavior. Fire has been used by humans in rituals, in agriculture for clearing land, for cooking, generating heat and light, for signaling, propulsion purposes, smelting, forging, incineration of waste, cremation, and as a weapon or mode of destruction. In its broadest sense, fire is used by nearly every human being on earth in a controlled setting every day. Artist Joe cleverly uses flames to create meaningful original works, which are collected in the collection "Art of Flame". These works are composed of fire and darkness to express the meaning of fire in the history of human evolution.
