Gleam

Spacebrat's "Gleam" is a piece from her previous solo exhibition in New York titled Pipe Dream, investigating hyper realistic and fantastical airbrush paintings. This exhibition introduced works establishing black futurism and liberation through playful themes such as carnival parades and landscape scenes. Her airbrush pieces are based on collaged photographs to create new and interesting reference images as a starting point. "Gleam" is an interpretation of a prosperous woman holding good health and wisdom. The projection of black joy and heroism is presented by a tightly composed smiling face, with a shadowed spider airbrushed to perfection.
