Binance Funding Account Migration Begins September 29
The exchange has announced a major restructuring that will reshape how users manage crypto and other assets on the exchange. Starting September 29, 2026, the exchange will begin gradually moving crypto holdings from Funding into Spot Accounts. The transition is expected to run until January 2027, though the exchange has not yet confirmed the exact completion date.
The exchange says the goal is to simplify its funds structure and make asset management easier for everyday users. In practice, this means the Account, long used as a flexible wallet for deposits, staking, and other services, will eventually be repurposed entirely for stock and stock-option activity. Users should take note now, since several related features, including deposits, payments, and API settings, will shift alongside this change.

What Happens to Binance Funding Accounts After the Migration?
Once the migration period ends, Binance Exchange will officially rename the Funding portfolio to the "Stocks Accounts." From that point on, the account will be dedicated solely to trading and settling stocks and stock options rather than serving as a general-purpose crypto wallet.
Six settlement assets will remain usable within the renamed account: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. These currencies will let users continue funding stock-related trades even after crypto functionality is removed from the account entirely.
| Feature | Change From September 29 |
| Funding Accounts | Crypto assets gradually move to Spot |
| Stocks Accounts | Future name and stock/stock-option settlement use |
| Crypto deposits | On-chain deposits no longer supported in Funding |
| Crypto withdrawals | Other crypto assets handled through Spot |
| Stock settlement | USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB |
| One-Click Migration | Available for users to move assets manually |
| Automatic migration | Begins in January 2027 |
Crypto Deposits and Withdrawals Will Move to Spot Accounts
From September 29, 2026, on-chain deposits into Funding Accounts will no longer be supported. Any crypto assets outside the six settlement currencies listed above will need to be deposited or withdrawn through Spot Accounts instead.
The crypto exchange has emphasized that this shift will not affect users' total asset value or account security. It's purely a structural change designed to consolidate crypto activity under one account type, rather than a change to holdings or balances themselves.
Binance Adds One-Click Migration for Crypto Assets
To help users transition smoothly, Binance is rolling out a "One-Click Migration" feature that lets account holders proactively move their crypto assets from Funding to Spot. This tool will only be available on the latest versions of the Binance iOS and Android apps, so users on outdated versions won't be able to migrate manually until they update.
For anyone who doesn't act during the transition window, Binance will step in automatically. Starting in January 2027, the exchange will begin batch-migrating any remaining crypto assets into Spot Accounts without requiring manual input.
Migration Timeline
| Date | Key Change |
| September 29, 2026 | The crypto wallets stop supporting on-chain crypto deposits |
| September 29, 2026 | One-Click Migration becomes available; Alpha 2.0, Card/gift card, and Pay routing changes begin |
| December 2026 | Binance plans to introduce a dedicated C2C accounts for advertisers |
| January 2027 | Unmigrated crypto assets begin automatic migration to Spot |
| January 2027 | Funding is renamed Stocks; exact date to be announced |
Binance Pay, Alpha 2.0 and Instant Redemption Also Get Account Changes
Several connected products will see funding-source updates alongside the main migration. Starting September 29, stablecoins used in Binance Alpha 2.0 limit orders, along with Liquidity Provider Program rebates, will be routed through the Alpha rather than the user funds.
Assets received via Binance Card, gift cards, and Pay will also begin depositing into Spot user holdings from the same date. Meanwhile, price-limit orders (including take-profit/stop-loss setups) created on or after September 29 will freeze and settle exclusively in Spot. Fixed-term orders will settle to Spot or Investment Accounts, with refunds for failed orders returned to Spot as well.
C2C Users and API Integrations Face Separate Changes
Regular C2C users without advertising history will default to Spot wallets as their funding source once they update their app. Advertisers, however, get a longer runway: they'll continue using the Funding portfolio for ad posting, deposits, and order activity until it launches a dedicated C2C advertiser account in December 2026. Any ads not migrated to this new account by January 2027 will be automatically deactivated.
Developers relying on the API are advised to update references from "Fundings" to "Spot" ahead of time to avoid disruptions once the migration takes hold.
What Binance Users Need to Do Before the Migration
Users should update their app to the latest version to access One-Click, review and reset any recurring payment plans tied to the Funding, and adjust API integrations where applicable. C2C advertisers should also prepare for the account transition arriving in December.
While no immediate action is strictly required, thanks to the automatic migrating safety net, proactive users can avoid last-minute complications by handling the transition early.
