What to Know

  • Strategy sold 1,690 Bitcoin for $108.6 million, reducing its holdings to 840,447 BTC while supporting its preferred-stock financing structure.
  • Combined Bitcoin sales reached 3,328 BTC across two consecutive weeks, generating approximately $213.3 million as Strategy adjusted its capital framework.
  • Strategy’s USD Reserve climbed to $4.65 billion, while its USD Duration increased by 143 days to approximately 2.7 years.

Strategy has sold 1,690 Bitcoin for $108.6 million, reducing its holdings as the company strengthens its preferred-stock capital structure. The latest disposal brings its reported Bitcoin sales to more than $213 million across two consecutive weeks.

An Aug. 10 Form 8-K filing shows Strategy sold the Bitcoin between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9. The company received an average price of $64,262 for each Bitcoin during the transactions.

Strategy used the $108.6 million proceeds to repurchase 1.152 million shares of its STRC preferred stock. Consequently, Bitcoin sales are playing a larger role in supporting the company’s preferred-stock financing framework. Following the transaction, Strategy holds 840,447 BTC acquired for approximately $63.36 billion. Its average purchase price stands at $75,385 per Bitcoin.

Significantly, Strategy sold the latest Bitcoin batch roughly 15% below its overall acquisition cost. However, its remaining Bitcoin position still represents a substantial part of the company’s balance sheet.

Strategy’s Bitcoin Sales Reach $213 Million in Two Weeks

Strategy has disclosed two major Bitcoin disposals across consecutive weeks, contrasting with its previous emphasis on expanding its cryptocurrency holdings. Between July 27 and Aug. 2, the company sold 1,638 BTC for approximately $104.7 million. That transaction carried an average selling price of $63,957 per Bitcoin.

Combined, both transactions involved 3,328 BTC and generated approximately $213.3 million. Moreover, Strategy had already completed another series of substantial Bitcoin disposals several weeks earlier.

Between June 29 and June 30, Strategy sold 1,363 BTC for approximately $80.8 million. Additionally, the company disposed of another 2,225 BTC for $135.2 million between July 1 and July 5. Those transactions generated approximately $216 million from the sale of 3,588 BTC. Hence, Strategy has increasingly converted portions of its Bitcoin position into capital for its broader financing requirements.

USD Reserve Climbs to $4.65 Billion

Strategy’s USD Reserve has reached $4.65 billion, giving the company additional liquidity for preferred-stock dividends and other financial obligations. Michael Saylor reported that the larger reserve increased Strategy’s USD Duration by 143 days to approximately 2.7 years. Additionally, the expansion reduced Bitcoin credit associated with STRC by 10 basis points.

Strategy CEO Phong Le reported that both the company’s USD Reserve and Duration had reached record levels. He noted that Strategy added nearly $3.8 billion to the reserve within roughly two and a half months.

Conclusion

Strategy’s latest Bitcoin disposal highlights its growing use of BTC to support its preferred-stock financing structure. Despite several sales, the company retains 840,447 BTC while maintaining a substantially larger USD reserve.
