Summary
- Veteran trader Peter Brandt projects XRP could reach $5.40, based on a long-term monthly structure despite persistent current corrective weakness.
- XRP must reclaim $1.88, establish support above $2, and break $3.40 before Brandt’s bullish target gains stronger overall technical confirmation.
- Brandt distinguishes chart analysis from documented trading, emphasizing that genuine performance claims require verifiable transaction evidence and risk records.
Veteran trader Peter Brandt expects XRP to reach $5.40, citing the cryptocurrency’s long-term monthly price structure. According to Brandt, the chart implies an eventual advance, although his analysis does not represent an executed trade or investment recommendation.
His chart tracks XRP against Tether on Binance through monthly bars extending from 2015 through September 2026. XRP traded near $1.49, remaining below its 18-month moving average around $1.88.
Consequently, XRP requires an approximately 26% gain to reclaim that indicator and improve its broader technical structure. The moving average represents the first major resistance blocking a sustained recovery.
Brandt’s chart shows a contracting formation created between XRP’s 2018 peak and later recovery attempts. A descending boundary connected major highs, while an ascending trendline linked important lows from 2020 onward.
XRP broke above the descending boundary during its 2024 advance, strengthening its bullish structure. However, sellers rejected the rally around $3.00 to $3.40, pushing XRP into another correction.

XRP Faces Important Barriers Before Reaching $5.40
Recent monthly candles have formed lower highs and lower lows, showing that sellers still influence XRP’s intermediate direction. Moreover, the downward-turning 18-month moving average reinforces resistance around $1.88.
A monthly recovery above that level could confirm improving momentum and support another attempt to establish $2 as support. Beyond $2, XRP must overcome stronger resistance between $3.00 and $3.40.
Significantly, a confirmed breakout above $3.40 would remove the largest visible barrier separating XRP from Brandt’s target. Such a move could place XRP beyond its historical peak and open a price-discovery phase.
XRP needs an approximately 262% increase from $1.49 to reach $5.40, representing a roughly 3.6-fold expansion. Nevertheless, Brandt provided no timeline for completing the projected move. Brandt rejected claims that posting a forecast proves an analyst entered the corresponding trade, arguing that genuine trading claims require verifiable records.
XRP’s long-term formation supports a possible $5.40 advance, although resistance levels limit the immediate outlook. Reclaiming $1.88 and breaking $3.40 would strengthen Brandt’s projection, while prolonged weakness could delay the expected move.
