Revolut's euro token comes from a Stripe subsidiary, not Revolut

EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin, is now available to users in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal via Revolut.

The on-chain euro is distributed to ~2 million users, who can use it as fiat money or crypto. EURR is made by Bridge, a company owned by Stripe.

Revolut is taking Tether’s USDT out of the market to follow the MiCA rules in the EU.

A euro token issued by Stripe’s Bridge

The EURR coin is created by Bridge Building S.A. in Luxembourg. Bridge is a stablecoin infrastructure company that Stripe acquired for $1.1 billion in February 2025.

The token is offered through Revolut Digital Assets Europe and is backed by reserves managed by Bridge under the EU’s MiCA.

The three launch markets were chosen “for their market size,” a Revolut spokesperson said, adding that the first wave covers around 2 million customers.

The first chain to host EURR is Ethereum. Revolut stated that EURR will also be available on other networks and will support transfers to external wallets.

Those outbound transfers are available now to select customers and will grow “as liquidity builds,” the spokesperson said.

The EURR coin will be visible next to a user’s regular balance in the retail app. Fiat transactions carry no fees, but the usual Revolut crypto trading and remittance limits apply.

Revolut’s Head of Crypto, Emil Urmanshin, said, “EURR connects 80 million Revolut customers directly to onchain finance.” He added that the company can combine “licensed banking infrastructure with instant euro-denominated access to the crypto ecosystem.”

Filling the hole left by USDT

Revolut is delisting Tether’s USDT from the EEA and Switzerland. The fintech company will convert any remaining USDT balances to customers’ base currencies after August 31.

This delisting is due to Revolut’s own MiCA crypto-asset service provider license. The license, issued by Cypriot regulator CySEC, does not allow it to list stablecoins whose issuers have not applied for MiCA approval.

In December 2024, Coinbase removed USDT for European users, and Kraken, Crypto.com, and OKX removed it by early 2025.

Revolut says EURR is “the first step” in a broader stablecoin strategy. It plans to expand availability across the European Economic Area later this year, pending product, operational, and regulatory readiness.

The company is also developing tokens pegged to other currencies via various regulatory routes.

Last month, Revolut connected its Revolut X exchange to Claude and Gemini. Its U.S. arm wants stablecoin services in a planned American bank.
