Pirate Chain monthly update | December 2025

Happy New Year! We’re prioritizing two game-changers for 2026: a unified light wallet and the Orchard upgrade, while the community keeps building on hardware, events, and merchant tools. Here’s what’s new and what you can do next.
Monthly update meeting
One unified wallet across all platforms
We’re building a single, flagship lite wallet for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux. One codebase, one UI, same experience everywhere.
Why this matters:
- Faster releases: Ship once, and it'll be deployed everywhere.
- Cleaner integrations: Third-party wallets (e.g., Edge, Komodo Wallet forks) can adopt updates more easily.
- Better UX: Consistent, modern interface across phone and desktop.
- Healthier ecosystem: Reduces platform drift and sync issues.
Development is underway and now top-priority alongside Orchard. Huge thanks to Oswald, who is leading this project, and our contributors for pushing this forward. Read the original post about the Pirate Chain Unified Wallet for details.
Orchard: Public testnet soon
Lead Core Developer Forge is finalizing the Orchard public testnet. When it goes live, we’ll invite everyone: developers and would-be breakers to hammer on it.
How to help when the Orchard public testnet opens:
- Download the testnet build.
- Mine a few test coins, send transactions, try edge cases.
- Report bugs and leave feedback in Discord.
More testers = stronger launch. Watch our X/Discord for the drop.
Komodo tech stack acquisition
Komodo recently announced that Gleec has acquired its technology stack (cross-chain framework and AtomicDEX infrastructure). Pirate Chain remains fully independent.
Rest assured that:
- ARRR is unaffected. Pirate Chain does not depend on Komodo’s organization for operations or development.
- dPoW continues. The delayed-Proof-of-Work security layer remains available and operational.
- Open source endures. Codebases remain open; community forks and contributions continue as normal.
The bottom line is, there's no change to Pirate Chain’s roadmap or security posture!
Komodo Classic
At Komodo (KMD) block #4771595, there will be a fork and Komodo Classic (KMDCL) will launch and Pirate Chain's delayed proof-of-work (dPoW) service will continue seamlessly with Komodo Classic. Keep an eye on the countdown to Komodo Classic.
Community projects and updates
Pirate Chain community member Warelock (Zero-Transaction History Alliance) is building a third-party cold storage hardware wallet purpose-built for Pirate Chain.
It's an ARRR-only device with offline signing; no battery, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. There's a USB-tethered to a host (desktop at launch; Android support planned). The target price will be around $200 USD (pre-order). Open-sourcing after fulfillment with Bill of Materials + source so you can even build your own. If you like purpose-built tools for privacy, consider supporting the project; feedback and donations help move it faster.
Our Community Lead Daniel J also hosted an X space on the Cipher Hardware Wallet with Warelock.
Once again, a big shout-out to Oswald (Unified Wallet Lead Developer), Forge (Orchard Lead Developer), Warlock/ZTH Alliance (Hardware Wallet Developer), and all the volunteers testing, documenting, and onboarding.
