Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, surged over 18% on Wednesday after President Donald Trump highlighted efforts to bring the decentralized exchange under America’s regulatory framework. Trump stated that CFTC Chairman Michael Selig was working to facilitate the process legally.

Trump made these comments during a White House meeting, where he also urged Congress to advance broader crypto legislation in the U.S.

HYPE reacted positively to the news, trading at $70.17 according to CoinGecko market data at the time of writing.

Political Winds Lift Hyperliquid’s U.S. Ambitions

Hyperliquid has earned a reputation for trading decentralized derivatives, which makes gaining access to the American market especially important for its global expansion. Trump’s recent statements, while not official approval, signal support for the platform’s quest for worldwide acceptance.

The involvement of CFTC Chairman Michael Selig indicates that regulators are looking into how Hyperliquid’s products can fit within American regulations. This could lead to more participation from institutions and provide traders with more confidence in using the platform and its future functions.

The current rally in HYPE value shows rising hopes about regulatory decisions but does not mean that licensing or market access is guaranteed. Now, Hyperliquid must turn this seeming political support into real compliance without losing the features that attract traders globally.

Treasury News Sparks Bitcoin Rally

The crypto market often reacts to economic events because changes in money supply, interest rates, inflation, and policies affect how much risk investors are willing to take. For example, Bitcoin rose above $68,000 after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the government would buy back long-term bonds.

The Treasury said it would increase its operations for these bonds from $2 billion to at least $4 billion starting in September. The news helped Bitcoin gain 5%, while more than $1.4 billion in short positions were liquidated, pushing the price even higher.

Notably, similar reactions have occurred following major economic and policy news, although crypto prices can change quickly when expectations shift. For instance, Bitcoin surged above $71,000 in April after President Trump announced a two-week pause in planned military strikes against Iran.

The announcement eased immediate concerns about rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which could have affected stability in the Strait of Hormuz. These examples show how the crypto market sees traditional economic news as triggers for quick price changes and renewed speculation.
