Just checked the futures tab in my Coinbase account and was shocked to see that I can apply for futures trading. I haven't seen any official announcement on X or elsewhere, only articles from 2 months ago about them gaining regulatory approval.

They do seem to have updated their support site:

Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM) is open for application to legal residents of the United States who have a U.S. address and social-security number (SSN)/Individual tax-payer identification number (ITIN). Application qualifications include age, trading experience, occupation, income, and net worth.

This feels like a potentially big win for Coinbase if this product can attract significant volume. Especially with the increasing trend of DeFi protocols geoblocking their front-ends, U.S.-based traders seeking futures products may find Coinbase Futures to be the most convenient option, despite the additional KYC requirements.
