Transport officials urgently recalled nearly 2,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles after discovering a manufacturing flaw in certain models that pose a critical safety hazard to their drivers.
Affected Mercedes Benz models
Several models of the luxury car were recalled yesterday after detecting a manufacturing defect in them.
Some of the models to be recalled were AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, CLE, EQE, and EQS.
Safety alert
The Australian Government’s Department of Transport issued the alert stating that there might be a failure in the vehicle management system’s connection to the fuse box.
What is the potential hazard of this manufacturing defect?
Should this happen, it could result in an abrupt loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire, which might increase the possibility of accidents that could cause grave injury or even death to the vehicle occupants and bystanders around the vehicle.
A total of 1,983 vehicles were affected, those manufactured in the years 2023-24.
Call for action
Mercedes Benz said it encourages the purchasers of these vehicles falling under this manufacturing category to check their vehicle identifications immediately, and should these purchasers fall under this category, they are urged to contact the most proximate Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the fuse box replaced, which will be free of charge.
