Panic gripped the XRP community after a suspicious 10,000 XRP fee appeared during a routine wallet transaction. The issue emerged while a user conducted a simple swap on the Xaman Wallet, only to find a massive service fee flagged on the XRP Ledger.

The attempted transaction failed due to insufficient funds and was labeled “UNFUNDED_PAYMENT.” The XRP wallet had adequate funds to pay past reserve requirements because its currency balance was too low. Due to the failed transaction, the significant payment amount caused mass concern even though no funds were transferred.

According to details on the XRP Ledger, the failed payment was listed as a service fee charged by the “Xaman Service Fee.” Users disputed how a charge at this odd level could trigger since its costly amount generated widespread debate.

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz addressed the situation to relieve increasing user concerns. According to his explanation, the system issue arose from a rare technical malfunction in the platform and was not related to any organized cyberattack. Schwartz also stated that the XRP incident was solved, and all XRP remained secure.

Community Speculation Grows Over Wallet Vulnerabilities and Possible Targeting

Even with this clarification, the failed transaction raised concerns about the Xaman Wallet’s reliability. Some users suspected that the incident could be linked to deeper software issues. Others claimed it might reflect a targeted move against developers critical of XRPL’s current direction.

Some voices from the community started suggesting that the failed transaction could have served to harm RippleNet’s reputation. Members of the XRP ecosystem asserted that specific XRP projects were receiving biased treatment. The transaction failure failed to provide reassurance regarding suspicions about system inconsistencies or internal weaknesses.

Ripple users increasingly sought to understand the inner workings of wallet services. The community demanded better security protections that would prevent massive fee transactions from being created.

Conclusion

Although the 10,000 XRP fee attempt never succeeded, it sparked outrage and cast a spotlight on wallet security. The incident has left lingering doubts within the XRP community that may take time to resolve.
