RLUSD Growth Strengthens Ripple’s Wider Institutional Strategy
During August, RLUSD’s combined supply crossed $2 billion, including more than $1 billion circulating on the XRP Ledger. Ripple has invested in ZILO and Licuido to expand digital capital markets infrastructure operating through the XRP Ledger. Under this strategy, RLUSD provides regulated cash settlement for transactions involving tokenized securities and other blockchain-based financial assets.
Meanwhile, Bybit expanded its RLUSD Hold and Earn program after attracting $50 million under custody within eleven days. Ripple also partnered with Clearpool and Cicada Partners to develop institutional lending services through the XRP Ledger.
Consequently, participating businesses can use RLUSD as the credit asset for loans serving fintech firms and payments companies. In Kenya, Ripple joined Mercy Corps Ventures, BlockBima, and Fortune Credit to support underserved small businesses.
The initiative uses RLUSD to improve access to insurance and credit while reducing settlement delays and transaction expenses. Project results showed a 97% settlement-time reduction alongside costs approximately 3,000 times lower than traditional processes. McDonald’s Brooklyn presentation will connect these developments with Ripple’s broader effort to expand RLUSD across regulated global markets.
