Banks and payment companies are moving deeper into stablecoins as 2026 becomes a contest over digital settlement. Revolut has introduced EURR, Visa is testing seven-day settlement, and global banking groups are developing shared blockchain-based payment rails.

JPMorgan’s role requires a distinction. The bank has recently evaluated whether to issue a stablecoin, according to The Wall Street Journal, but says no active product is underway. Its live JPM Coin remains a tokenized deposit for institutional clients, not a stablecoin.
