Brokerage platform Robinhood has launched the public testnet for its layer-2 blockchain, Robinhood Chain. In this phase, developers can build and test decentralized applications (dApps) before the mainnet launch, which is scheduled for later this year.

What is the Robinhood Chain?

The brokerage firm initially introduced the Robinhood Chain in June 2025. Since then, the L2 network has been in private testnet.

Although most of its development during this phase was not publicly known, the development team revealed that the L2 blockchain is built on Arbitrum, an Ethereum layer-2 network. This way, Robinhood Chain benefits from Ethereum’s security and Arbitrum’s speed and compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

Aimed at bolstering the “development of onchain financial services,” Robinhood Chain will allow users to bring tokenized real-world assets, like exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and equities, on-chain.

Robinhood added in its announcement that it has partnered with infrastructure providers to make the development of dApps seamless. These include Alchemy, Allium, Chainlink, LayerZero, and TRM Labs.

Commenting on the public testnet launch and the blockchain’s future goals, Robinhood’s General Manager of Crypto and International, Johann Kerbrat, said:

“The testnet for Robinhood Chain lays the groundwork for an ecosystem that will define the future of tokenized real-world assets and enable builders to tap into DeFi liquidity within the Ethereum ecosystem. We look forward to building alongside our infrastructure partners as we work to bring financial services onchain.”

In the coming months, Robinhood will allow developers to access testnet assets, such as stock tokens, and to run direct tests with the Robinhood Wallet.

More Blockchain Launches

It is no secret that crypto exchanges have expanded beyond crypto custody to offer their unique blockchains to their users. For instance, Binance launched the BNB Chain. Coinbase debuted the Base network. OKX launched X Layer.

Recently, other crypto projects have introduced their blockchain networks. Less than 24 hours ago, LayerZero, an omnichain messaging platform, launched its native layer-1 chain, Blockchain Zero.
