SharpLink has officially confirmed a major Ethereum accumulation, raising eyebrows across the crypto industry. The company revealed it now holds 205,634 ETH after spending $19.2 million between June 28 and July 4 on token purchases.
This significant move comes shortly after SharpLink appointed ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin as its board chairman. Speaking recently to CNBC, however, Lubin indicated that SharpLink intends to continue to purchase ETH. According to him, the company is implementing the same approach used by Michael Saylor with Bitcoin at Strategy.
In the interview, Lubin congratulated Saylor on creating a strong Bitcoin story and an ever-increasing brand by making big buys. He added that the value of Bitcoin is already accepted in the present, whereas the value of Ethereum has never been viewed as a current phenomenon.
That perception is changing, according to Lubin, who believes Ethereum is now at a stage where it can support large-scale real-time usage. He stressed that the network is now sufficiently scalable, inexpensive, and legal to serve both consumers and enterprise users in this country.

However, Lubin also acknowledged that Ethereum still lacks a killer set of applications to drive mainstream adoption. He explained that the network has been underused partly because of regulatory obstacles. Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler was blamed explicitly for discouraging developers from launching or using tokens.
Nevertheless, Lubin feels that Ethereum is ahead, pointing out that SharpLink’s ETH buying spree is a long-term strategic plan to capture the value of Ethereum infrastructure as Web3 use increases.
He said that the foundations had already been primed in the past ten years, and Ethereum is now well able to take on the migration of the internet to decentralized platforms. Lubin predicts that Ethereum is going to take the center role, with the active involvement and accumulation at SharpLink.
SharpLink’s latest ETH purchases signal growing institutional confidence in Ethereum’s future. With Lubin at the helm and more acquisitions planned, market attention is shifting as Ethereum positions itself for a significant breakout.
