A Nigerian crypto trader, Sunusi Danjuma Ali, recently demonstrated remarkable honesty by returning over $135,000 (more than ₦200 million) that was mistakenly credited to his Bitunix exchange account. Ali’s decision not to withdraw the money has given the crypto space something positive to look forward to.
Local sources confirmed that Ali discovered the huge balance in his crypto Bitunix account, which he confirmed was caused by a glitch, and chose to refund it to the company.
The Mistake and a Choice
On September 29, 2025, Ali found a significant error in his Bitunix wallet, which showed a balance of over $135,000 available for withdrawal. Initially excited, Ali quickly verified the funds and discovered that the money was due to a system glitch, not a real deposit or trade.
He immediately reported the issue to Bitunix support to fix the mistake before it could be misused. According to Ali, Bitunix responded by freezing his account for a full audit, which is a standard procedure for such errors.
It’s now confirmed that the funds in my Bitunix account were a glitch.
They were withdrawable before, but now my account is frozen. I call on @BitunixOfficial to reclaim their funds and unfreeze my account ASAP so I can resume trading.

X Community’s Reaction
Ali’s self-control challenges the negative view of fraud in African markets, with Nigeria leading in crypto transactions, but it is facing a reputation for scams. His story has garnered widespread praise from numerous influencers and news aggregators who echoed his actions on X. One user said:
“This is such a powerful example of integrity. Instead of rushing to withdraw, you chose to clarify first — that shows real character. In Web3, trust and honesty are worth more than any number on a screen. Much respect. You’re setting the right stand.”
Another post by @Nuuruddn celebrated Ali’s integrity, stating, “It’s a good representation of your religion, culture, and your great country, Nigeria.”
Notably, this is not the first time a Nigerian has shown such remarkable honesty. In July 2024, a crypto influencer mistakenly sent 100 SOL to Lucky, a Nigerian crypto investor, instead of sending $100 worth of SOL. Lucky returned 90 SOL to the influencer. Due to the kind gesture, which was publicized on X, various users sent 10 SOL to the investor’s wallet.
