Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has called for an end to the ongoing conflict between the Bitcoin and XRP communities. His comments come amid fresh clashes that have reignited long-standing divisions in the crypto space.
Garlinghouse made the statement while addressing attendees at the XRP Las Vegas event. According to a post shared by @edward_farina on X, Garlinghouse declared, “Rewriting the entire banking system and we underestimate how big that change is,” emphasizing the scale of transformation Ripple aims to deliver. The video of this remark was posted directly by the Ripple account, adding weight to its significance.

The latest disagreement started after Senator Cynthia Lummis declined a meeting with Ripple’s Brad Garlinghouse—Lummis, who recently became chair of the Digital Assets Subcommittee, champions Bitcoin. Garlinghouse encouraged Powell to advocate for all cryptocurrencies, not solely for Bitcoin, after the snub.
Online XRP supporters swiftly spoke up, slamming Lummis and sharing a tweet from Will Cole in 2022 that called XRP a “centralized joke of a scam.” People from both communities became even more suspicious and distrustful of each other.
Ripple Faces Scrutiny Over Anti-Mining Symbol and Policy Influence
Tensions escalated further when Ripple donated the controversial “Skull of Satoshi” artwork to a Nashville-based Bitcoin museum. The piece, often seen as a symbol of criticism toward Bitcoin mining, drew backlash from many Bitcoin advocates who viewed it as another attack on the network.
Reports made earlier indicated that Ripple had opposed a proposed policy that would require only Bitcoin in U.S. reserves. Politico covered the story of the White House removing a lobbyist who had previously championed the inclusion of XRP in federal cryptocurrency discussions.
In spite of the disagreements, Garlinghouse insists that the sector cannot focus on competition. He made it clear that Bitcoin’s victory does not impact XRP’s results, and similarly, XRP’s success won’t affect Bitcoin.
With new regulations impacting crypto, Garlinghouse wants to steer the industry’s attention toward collaboration. The comments point out that unity is vital when trying to promote cryptocurrency and improve its system.
