This video came out about a month ago and talks about how quantum computers are closer to being able to break encryption than we previously thought. This is coming from a YouTuber who is a theoretical physicist and has been a skeptic on the broad use of quantum computers. Now she recognizes that breaking encryption is one of the few uses of quantum computers in the short term. I think that the fact that she is a skeptic who is a dr in physics makes her opinion all the more relevant!

Here’s another physics youtuber who actually left the quantum field due to her loss of faith in the technology. She has a PhD in quantum mechanics from Cambridge. She also recognizes that breaking encryption is one of the few realistic uses for quantum computers.
