How Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade Back on Track After Holesky’s Major Setback

Ethereum’s Holesky testnet resumed its usual status as a stable system after extended problems to let developers restart crucial Pectra project tests. The network rebuild took longer than expected to reach its target fork date but has since returned to normal operation.
EthPandaOps a group of Ethereum developer verified the returned status and reported that Pectra testing on the testnet can resume for all validators. They suggested solo stakers to test independently on the Ephemery testnet platform instead of Holesky.

Configuration Errors Disrupt Ethereum’s Holesky Testnet
The Holesky problem started on February 24 when Pectra upgrade tests detected its finalization failure. Tim Beiko from the Ethereum Foundation said that the issue came from Geth executing clients who entered wrong deposit contract addresses. The execution layer bug split the network chains and weakened its stability because of incorrect configuration.

No success followed early attempts to fix the problem because a small number of validators took part. EthPandaOps announced on March 10 that operational stability returned at the 119090th Epoch mark. A permanent rebuild happened when more than two-thirds of validators joined to make the Holesky blockchain permanently stabilized.
