Metaplanet Acquires Additional 1,241 BTC For $129 Million

According to the company, Metaplanet purchased 1,241 BTC, valued at approximately $129 million. The firm revealed that it acquired the crypto asset at an average price of roughly $100,968 per bitcoin.

As such, the latest buy pushed the firm’s total holdings to 6,798 BTC (over $713.5 million). These holdings were acquired at an aggregate cost of $611.7 million, averaging $89,932 per BTC. The investment firm also disclosed that it achieved a YTD 2025 Bitcoin Yield 38.0.

Following the acquisition announcement, the company’s stock price surged 4.96% to 550 yen at the time of writing, reflecting positive market sentiment and an increase in investor confidence.

Metaplanet Buying Spree

Metaplanet began buying bitcoin in 2024, and since then, it has shown a remarkable commitment to the digital asset. The firm had earlier revealed its plans to acquire 10,000 BTC this year. It has surpassed half of the goal, which shows it is getting closer to its proposed target.

Last week, Metaplanet acquired 555 BTC, valued at $53.4 million. The firm noted that it purchased the crypto at an average price of approximately $96,134. It also reported achieving a YTD 2025 Bitcoin Yield of 136.7%.

Notably, as the largest public company in Asia and the 11th in the world to own Bitcoin, the firm also wants to increase its presence worldwide. The dubbed “Asia Strategy” recently announced its board plan to establish a branch in Miami, Florida. The new subsidiary is projected to raise approximately $25 million to strengthen its Bitcoin strategy.

While the company imitates the buying strategy of the largest corporate BTC holder,  Strategy recently purchased 1,895 BTC, valued at approximately $180 million, reflecting its commitment to the asset. This big buy brought the company’s holdings to 55,450 bitcoins ($30.08 billion).

Bitcoin Prints Green Charts

Meanwhile, the latest purchase comes when the crypto market is experiencing a remarkable comeback. Despite the drastic fall of the largest crypto asset by market capitalization, BTC, the crypto asset has shown significant progress. The digital asset was changing hands at $105,000, showing signs of reaching its all-time high (ATH) of $109,000.

Remarkably, other major coins like ETH have also benefited from the current market conditions. Despite reaching a low of $1,500, the asset is trading at over $2,500, reflecting a 2.30% increase in the last 24 hours at press time.
