Berachain launched into mainnet on February 6, 2025, introducing an EVM-identical Layer 1 (L1) blockchain that uses the novel Proof of Liquidity (PoL) consensus mechanism to align liquidity and security.

Berachain’s PoL consensus uniquely aligns network security with DeFi liquidity — validators stake $BERA (native gas token) while directing BGT governance emissions to protocols, keeping capital active rather than locked.
