In the first article, we explored what ASI:One is and how the system works under the surface. Now we move from theory into your hands. Onboarding is simple, yet it shapes the core identity of your AI. This is the point where you give it a name, a personality, and a look. These choices make your AI feel personal from the moment you begin using it.

This guide walks you through each step with precision so you understand what is happening and why it matters.

Step 1: Start the login flow

Begin by clicking the green Login button at the top right of asi1.ai. If you do not have an account yet, choose Sign Up. This creates your identity in the ASI ecosystem.

You will now see two options:

  • Sign in with Google: This is the fastest path. The system only needs your name and email.
  • Download ASI Wallet Extension: This is for users who want stronger anonymity or deeper Web3 control.

For this guide we use Google sign in because it is quick for new users.

Step 2: Enter ASI:One and begin setup

Once you sign in you will land on a welcome screen. Click Get started to begin the onboarding flow.

This is where you personalise your AI.

Step 3: Give your AI a name

The first step is simple. ASI:One asks you to choose a name so it does not stay generic. Pick something that matches the tone you want. It can be human, futuristic, abstract, playful, or plain.

For this walkthrough, we’ll call it Martin.

The name becomes how you refer to it in conversation. It also appears across the interface wherever your AI presents itself.

Step 4: Choose your @handle

Your AI needs a handle so it can be summoned across the platform. Handles let friends mention your AI directly in group tasks. They also let you call your AI while using other agent tools.

Pick something short and easy to recall.

Step 5: Shape the personality

You now choose how your AI behaves. Personalities influence tone, pace, humour, structure, and emotional expression. To make this easier ASI:One gives you a set of popular presets.

Here are a few examples:

  • Chaotic Hero: The AI your IT department warned you about.
  • Thoughtful Coordinator: Your friend who is good at planning and managing schedules.
  • Emoji Speaker: Speaks visually with a preference for icons.
  • Drama Empress: Treated like every conversation is a crisis or a miracle.
  • Comedian: Helps with your tasks while sounding like it is processing an existential crisis.
  • Roast Master: Solves problems while roasting the entire situation.

…and many more!

You can pick one or skip. You will be able to fine-tune personality in great detail later. Onboarding is only a light introduction.

Step 6: Give your AI a look

Next you reach the visual identity step. Your AI generates an avatar that represents it across the platform. You can:

• Type a prompt and generate a custom avatar
• Pick from a curated gallery below
• Regenerate until something feels right

FYI, this is purely aesthetic. It does not change behaviour. But it does give your AI presence within your chats and across your network.

Step 7: Finish onboarding

Once you choose the look, onboarding ends. Your AI is ready to use.

You will be dropped into the main ASI:One interface. This is where the real experience starts. You will see tools, superpowers, memory settings, and starter tasks.

In the next article we explore this main interface in depth. You will learn what each button does, how to call external agents, and how to use your AI in a structured way to plan, search, write, analyse, and collaborate.

The Definitive Guide to ASI:One, Part Two: Onboarding was originally published in Fetch.ai on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
