Strategy has returned to Bitcoin buying after more than two months without a disclosed acquisition, purchasing 4,603 BTC for approximately $370 million during the week ending August 30.
The company acquired the coins at an average price near $80,380 and increased its holdings to 845,050 BTC, reversing part of the decline in its treasury caused by Bitcoin sales during June, July and August.
Strategy entered the latest week with 840,447 BTC after making no purchases or sales between August 17 and August 23.
Bitcoin Buying Returns After Weeks of Sales
The latest acquisition is Strategy’s first disclosed Bitcoin purchase since June 22, when its treasury reached 847,363 BTC. The company subsequently shifted toward active balance-sheet management, selling portions of its holdings to fund preferred-stock obligations and repurchases.
That included a 1,690 BTC sale between August 3 and August 9 for $108.6 million. The entire proceeds from that transaction went toward repurchasing STRC preferred shares.
Strategy had already sold 3,588 BTC between June 29 and July 5, including 1,363 BTC for $80.8 million and another 2,225 BTC for $135.2 million. Those transactions reduced its holdings from the June peak as the company directed capital toward dividends and liquidity.
The new 4,603 BTC purchase brings Strategy within 2,313 BTC of its June 22 balance.
Strategy Adds Cash and Repurchases $152M of STRC
Bitcoin was only one part of Strategy’s capital allocation during the latest reporting period. The company also increased USD Cash by $29 million and repurchased approximately $152 million of STRC, its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock.
Strategy finished August 30 with $6.71 billion of combined USD Assets, consisting of its designated USD Reserve and separate USD Cash pool. The company had held $6.69 billion of USD Assets one week earlier, including a $5.10 billion USD Reserve and $1.59 billion of USD Cash.
The balance-sheet expansion brought Strategy’s net leverage to 0.0%. The metric measures debt minus USD Assets relative to the value of the company’s Bitcoin reserve, meaning its dollar assets now offset its reported debt for purposes of that calculation.
STRC repurchases remain part of a $1 billion preferred-securities buyback authorization established in June. The company had already spent $136.4 million repurchasing STRC during the preceding week.
Strategy Holds 845,050 BTC
The renewed buying comes as Strategy’s enormous Bitcoin position has recovered alongside BTC itself. Its treasury recently returned to profit after Bitcoin’s August rebound pushed the asset back above Strategy’s average acquisition cost.
Strategy also skipped Bitcoin purchases during the week ending August 23 while building its cash position, a shift captured during Bitcoin’s recent move toward $80,000.
As of August 30, Strategy held 845,050 BTC and $6.71 billion of USD Assets, while continuing to allocate capital simultaneously across Bitcoin purchases, cash accumulation and STRC repurchases.
